New Home in Soroti

By Sara:

When we say "new home" we actually mean that not only is this the new place we're living, it's actually a newly built house.  We're the first occupants, which is pretty fun.  The even better news, though, is that even though the house is new, there are already lots of fruit trees grown up around the yard, so I can enjoy eating fresh fruit without having to wait years for the trees to grow!  For example, papayas bigger than my head (though these might get old kind of fast - not my favorite fruit):

The vehicle we drove in Kenya had to stay in Kenya, so we now have a different one here in Uganda.

We have slowly transformed our house from this disaster:

To less clutter:

To fully furnished:

We are really enjoying our amazing kitchen with all its counter space, though I need to stand on a stool to reach the top shelves in the cupboards.

We have a guest bedroom with its own bathroom:

A dining room with a window into the kitchen:

Our own bedroom:

And a room for storage/sewing/overflow guests:

For those who are interested, here are some pictures on which I labeled some of the variety of fruit trees in our yard.  First the front:

And the back (most of that dirt is going to be a garden once it starts to rain...in March or April - which is feeling to me like a long time to wait):

  2. Sara, your new home is lovely! Thanks for posting photos so we can envision life in Soroti. What a blessing that you have such a lovely space for your family and friends to visit. I know your mom and dad are looking forward to their trip. I'm looking forward to hearing about it when they return. :)
